What is a normal range for blood glucose?

What is a normal range for blood glucose? The normal range for blood glucose is between 80 – 190/200. Most doctor’s and physicians consider below 70 low and above 240 high.

Diabetics all differ from person to person because everyone has to take various things into consideration such as weight, height, health and family medical history as well as their gender, males may need more of a calorie intake to get through the day versus a female and an elderly person who doesn’t get much exercise may be able to get through the day with a lower blood glucose reading than one that gets out and about all the time and is really active.

It is hard for some doctor’s to pinpoint what a normal range for blood glucose may be or for a normal range fasting blood glucose but for many they throw it all out there and have a standard chart that they go by, which is standard normal range for everyone.

While diabetics need to be careful and monitor their normal range for blood glucose levels carefully and make sure that they don’t get hypoglycemic, which is low blood sugar and can cause hunger, fainting, shaking, etc. they also need to make sure that they prevent themselves from becoming hyperglycemic or having too high blood glucose level that can cause strokes, heart attacks, passing out, etc.

Healthy people, diabetics and everyone else needs to monitor for a normal range cholesterol. High cholesterol can stem from many things such as eating too high fatty foods, too much grease, too much junk food, etc. A normal range cholesterol is less than 200mg/dL. If that number gets too high then you are putting yourself in harm’s way and taking the chance or risks of a heart attack or stroke.

By keeping yourself healthy so that you can have a normal range cholesterol and also a normal range for blood glucose is an important part of living a long and healthy life.

Type 2 Diabetes Meal plan, does it have to be blah?

Type 2 Diabetes Meal plan
Type 2 Diabetes Meal plan

Type 2 diabetes meal plan, does it really have to be so blah? Did you realize that most people who have diabetes don’t even realize that they can have all the great foods that normal, healthy people can have just within moderation, reading labels and without all the extra additives?

Most diabetic patients think that the day they get told they have diabetes, that there life comes to a screeching halt when it doesn’t have to. Type 2 diabetes may seem and sound like such a drag but you really can just change a few minor things and still be in control.

Type 2 Diabetes Meal plan normally means that one is required to take insulin and monitor their blood glucose level more closely than a regular diabetic, generally 2-3 times a day. A type 2 diabetes meal plan can look like a regular meal plan just with a few minor changes added to it. For example, a type 2 diabetes meal plan may have 2% milk or fat free in place of whole milk, it may have whole wheat bread in place of white bread or grilled chicken instead of fried chicken.

Diabetics can have the same foods just within moderation and careful watching. Where a healthy person can eat baked potatoes and French fries, a diabetic can only have half a baked potato without all the extra salt and butter. A normal person may be able to have regular soft drinks when a diabetic may just be limited to diet.

For someone who is new to diabetes they may need a type 2 diabetes meal planner at first to help them get everything under control but soon after they learn all the tricks of the trade and how to read labels more efficiently and carefully will soon learn that they can throw their planner away and be able to make a type 2 diabetes meal plan from scratch without help!

Free glucose monitors and equipment

Free glucose monitors
Free glucose monitors

For many people who have been diagnosed with diabetes, may not be able to afford the equipment associated with diabetes so there is hope – free glucose monitors. Free glucose monitors, free glucose test strips and free diabetic supplies don’t go unnoticed to the people who need it the most.

For a lot of people in this horrible, low economy that we are in the paychecks doesn’t change, but the bills still come in and often times go up. Being a diabetic definitely puts a damper on things because there are so many extra costs associated with the disease. Diabetics have various medications, glucose test strips, glucose monitors and much more, but often times people find themselves choosing between their healths and putting food on the table.

There is hope; just like hospice is there for cancer patients and people with terminal diseases, there are associations that are in place to help people who can’t otherwise afford glucose monitors and diabetic supplies.

These associations will loan out or give out free glucose monitors, free glucose test strips and free diabetic supplies because they know the importance of trying to stay healthy and safe.

For many of these companies they get this equipment because other people have donated their equipment maybe after someone they know has passed or through donations.

Free glucose monitors and free glucose test strips are in top demand because to a diabetic being able to keep an eye and monitor their daily fasting blood glucose is often times the meaning of life and death.

By being able to get a free glucose monitor, a diabetic can keep their own journal or log without having to go into the doctor’s often frequently and they will be allowed a chance to have some form of independence. A free glucose monitor or free diabetic supplies too many is like opening a new present at Christmas time! It is a blessing.

What are some of the foods that diabetics can eat?

foods that diabetics can eat
foods that diabetics can eat

Some of the foods that diabetics can eat are the same as me and you, but within moderation. The meals that diabetics can eat, foods that diabetics can eat and the diet that diabetics can eat are the same as anyone else just with moderation and careful planning. Being diabetic doesn’t mean the end of the world, being diabetic just means careful planning, better diets, reading labels and monitoring what you eat and consume more carefully than others. The meals that diabetics can eat are the same that you and I can eat without diabetes just without all of the sugar and extra salt.

My grandmother is diabetic and I used to think that it would be tough fixing two different meals every time that I helped them cook but then I learned that she could eat the same thing as me and you just without the added sugar, seasoning and salt. So, now when I fix meals for them and us I take hers out in separate containers before I add the extra sugar, salt or seasonings to it. The foods that diabetics can eat really are the same as what everyone can eat just in moderation.

Of course, there are many various cookbooks out there that can be rented, downloaded or purchased that have all sorts of various recipes that diabetics can eat so that they still can have meals fixed with sugar substitutes in order to have that yummy, delicious taste instead of a more bland and plain taste.

There are all sorts of places to find a list of foods that diabetics can eat such as online, through your doctor’s office or physician or local library. After all, the same fruits that diabetics can eat and the same foods that diabetics can eat are no different from me and you!

What Should Diabetics Eat?

What should diabetics eat
What should diabetics eat

What should diabetics eat? Diabetics should eat the same as you and I, just within moderation and within reasoning. Diabetics can eat almost the same as a normal healthy person just without all of the added sugar, fat and salts.

A diabetic diet consists of more bland foods such as wheat products versus saltine crackers, regular white bread, whole milk, etc. because those products contain high amounts of carbohydrates and sugars or starches.

What should diabetics eat? Your diet should contain foods that are grown organic, does not contain sugars or fatty starches. If beans are fixed then they do not need to be fixed with added grease or sugar, wheat bread can be substituted for white bread and 2% milk can be drunk in place of regular whole milk.

What should diabetics not eat? A diabetic diet should not consist of sugary drinks such as regular soft drinks, kool-aid, sweet tea, etc. and instead be substituted or made with decaffeinated products or sugar substitutes.

The same as often times it is asked, what should children eat? Children need a good balance diet that doesn’t consist of high sugar such as candy, chips, and soft drinks, lots of kool-aid, fried foods and greasy or breaded foods and instead be substituted for fresh fruits and vegetables, grilled foods versus fried ones and diet soft drinks versus regular ones.

What should diabetics eat, should be a rule of thumb that most of us already live by or eat by, in moderation we would all become healthier, have better readings such as blood pressure, glucose readings and cholesterol. If we all ate as, “what should diabetics eat,” we would live a much better life and feel so much better about ourselves. Why not live a better life and eat with the motto, “what should diabetics eat,” in order to better ourselves?
