What is the use of diabetes test equipment? Diabetic test equipment is used by diabetic to better control their blood sugar. For diabetics controlling their blood sugar means life or death. Diabetes is where the body’s organ called the pancreas begins to stop or slow in the production of a vital chemical, insulin.

Insulin is a chemical that is responsible for the transformation of blood sugar into fuel that the body’s cells can use. Without sufficient amounts of insulin the blood sugar levels begin to rise and at a certain level they damage the body. At a high level the sugar begins to cause damage such as eye damage, heart damage, nerve damage, and the worse, kidney damage. These are the reasons why it’s important to use diabetes test equipment.

Diabetes test equipment consists of a few major things. The most major items are the lancet, the test strips, and the blood glucose monitor. The lancet is a small needle like contraption that is used to prick the fingers (or arm in some cases) to draw a small sample of blood. The test strips then have the blood inserted into a small cavity on the side of the strip. The strip is then inserted into the machine and measured. The blood glucose monitor is a small handheld machine that takes the strips and measures the blood sugar and displays it o a small screen. This diabetic testing equipment allows maximum freedom for those who have diabetes. Diabetes may limit your life but with the proper equipment (that you can use properly) it can continue as normal. So talk to your doctor about getting the proper equipment. Also talk to your doctor about diet, exercise, and medications to help manage your blood sugar.

How to test for diabetes can occur in several different ways, the most popular is by a fasting blood glucose test that can be performed in your doctor’s office.

How to test for diabetes can be done for a variety of reasons such as if a person is expecting a baby and is experiencing signs and symptoms of diabetes or pre-diabetes then a doctor or OBGYN may request that the mother is tested for diabetes.

Other reasons that a pregnant lady could be tested for diabetes is because they are over the age of 40 and/or has a strong family history of diabetes.

How to test for diabetes can also be done through a urine sample. A fasting blood glucose test can be done by taking a urine sample to see if your glucose level falls into the category of diabetes or pre-diabetes.

If a person is diagnosed as having pre-diabetes it can often times be treated through diet and exercise. Often times by changing up a person’s diet and lowering the amount of sugar that they ingest will take care of any pre-diabetic symptoms.

If a person is diagnosed as having full blown diabetes then generally they will be asked to monitor their blood glucose level for a few days to a few weeks often times more than once a day, once in the morning fasting and once in the evening after meals have been eaten and then they will be called back into the doctors’ office for proper insulin level adjustment and medication adjustment.

How to test for diabetes is often times tested through a fasting glucose test which is performed in the doctor’s office where the patient will be required to come in fasting and then asked to drink a bottle of sugar water and then after waiting a short period of time the urine or blood will be tested for glucose levels to determine if a person is diabetic or not.

What is the use of diabetic testing equipment? Diabetic testing equipment is used by diabetics to help them control their blood sugar. Diabetes is a disease in where the body’s organ called the pancreas fails to produce the needed amounts of the chemical insulin.

Insulin is directly responsible for converting the sugar in the blood stream into fuel that the body can use. So when the levels of insulin ar e low the blood sugar levels rise. Once the blood sugar levels get to a certain point they begin to cause damage to the body. The damage that can be done includes eye damage, heart damage, nerve damage, and kidney damage all of which can kill you end the end. This makes using the proper diabetic testing equipment a necessity.

There is some basic diabetic testing equipment. The most basic testing equipment is the lancet, the blood glucose monitor, the test strips, and ketone strips. The lancet is a small needle like contraption that is used to gain a blood sample.

Generally it is used to prick the fingers but due to new advancements it can be done in the arm. Test strips are plastic strips that are used to take in the blood sample. These strips have chemicals inside that help in determining the blood sugar level.

The blood glucose monitor reads the chemical reactions inside the strips and displays the results on a small screen. The blood glucose monitor is a small hand held device that can be taken almost anywhere. Ketone strips are small strips that test urine for ketones, this is a sign that the body’s blood sugar is not under control. These are the basic diabetic testing equipment. These together will help you better control your blood sugar levels and live a healthier life.

The uses of the diabetic testers

For diabetics having and knowing how to use diabetic testers is vitally important. Diabetes is a disease in which the organ known as the pancreas stops or slows in the production of a chemical known as insulin. This chemical is responsible for all of the body’s energy. It takes the glucose (sugar) in the blood and changes it into energy that the body’s cells can use. If the insulin is low or nonexistent the blood sugar rockets to dangerous levels, at such high levels the body becomes damaged. The damage that can occur when the sugar levels in the blood are to high include; heart damage and disease, nerve damage, kidney damage and failure, and eye damage. The uses of diabetic testers are now evident when you take this into consideration. So how does it work?

Diabetic testers also known as blood glucose meter are small (generally) handheld devices that are used to measure the amount of sugar in the blood. First the finger, (or thanks to better technology) the arm, Is pricked with a small needle that draws a small amount of blood. The blood is then placed in a small plastic strip that is inserted into the unit. The unit then measure the sugar in the blood and displays the results on a small easy to read screen. This allows you to check your blood sugar at any time and keep your blood sugar in safe levels. One of the most important things when getting a meter is that you know how to use it correctly and that you are comfortable with it because your life depends on it. If you don’t have the ability to get diabetic testers can talk to your doctor and he may be able to help with getting free diabetic testers.

Diabetic testing equipment comes in a wide variety of forms and functions and appearances. These days, due to the growing number of people who are diagnosed with diabetes each year, diabetic testing equipment is becoming big business, and the medical supply companies which manufacture and sell diabetic testing equipment are making staggering variety different types of meters and lancets. Most of these types of equipment offer different amounts of memory take different amounts of blood, have different options as far as what bells and whistles are built into the machine. No matter what extra options and bells and whistles may be in a particular make or model of the facts of exactly what type of equipment is needed is actually quite simple.

Blood glucose levels are tested by a machine called a glucometer. To use the glucometer, the patient must select a site, usually a fingertip, from which to draw a tiny blood sample. A single use test strip should be first inserted into the glucometer then the test site should be cleaned with an alcohol pad. Once the alcohol is dry, the fingertip is pricked with a device called a lancet which will allow the patient to squeeze a drop of blood onto the surface of the skin. The test strip is touched to the drop of blood and the blood is drawn into the glucometer which reads the blood sugar level. This may sound complicated but it is actually quite simple and with a little practice can be done in just a few seconds.

Those with diabetes may have to check their blood sugar many times per day just to keep the levels as close to the 60-100mg/dl normal range as possible. But, with care and an understanding and use of diabetic testing equipment the diabetic can live a long and healthy life.
