Is there such a thing as a normal diabetic blood glucose levels?

Diabetic blood glucose levels vary from person to person for many various reasons. Reasons such as heredity, age, weight, race and many other reasons, it all plays an important part in diabetes. For many, the idea of having diabetes seems so gloom and doom, such a downer but it doesn’t have too. Diabetes have so many more options made available to them today than there was years ago. Blood glucose ranges are usually between 60 and 120 in a person with a normal metabolism. If a person has a metabolic dysfunction such as diabetes where the body either does not produce sufficient quantities of insulin or is resistant to the insulin produced the blood glucose ranges can swing wildly and at times can become so out of control as to be debilitating, sometimes even leading to coma or death. Prolonged, but less severe abnormal blood glucose ranges can damage the kidneys, liver, and even the heart, and can be a contributing factor to the development of glaucoma.

When it come to the normal glucose level range, there are no hard and fast rules since like everything else in life each person’s individual case is different, but as a general rule the normal glucose level range is between 60 and 120. Of course these numbers can be influenced by any number of factors including weight, age and other health conditions and there is no real way to say that this is or isn’t normal without the advice of a physician and long term tracking and trending of blood glucose levels. An Acceptable Blood Glucose Level

Many people who suffer from diabetes wonder what life would be like with a constantly acceptable blood glucose level. Diabetes Mellitus usually referred to simply as diabetes can be any one of a group of metabolic diseases in which the affected person has a measured blood glucose which is outside the range for an acceptable blood glucose level. This is as a result of either the body does not produce enough insulin, or the cells do not respond to in a normal fashion to the insulin which is produced. Glucose, which is used for energy by every cell of the body, can also become quite toxic if levels build up in the blood.

Diabetes rates are on the rise, and normal blood glucose values are becoming increasingly more important to an ever growing number of people in today’s world. Death and disability rates from a number of diseases, even such dreaded diseases as heart disease, stroke, and cancer, are falling, but diabetes rates are steadily climbing and diabetes is rapidly becoming one of the most wide spread health care problems of our time. While there is, as yet, no cure for diabetes the key to heading off the worst effects of the disease is maintaining normal blood glucose values as much as possible.
