What can diabetics eat? Finding foods that diabetic’s can eat is a difficult task. Because of their condition most of today’s most popular foods are off the list for them to eat.

Diabetes is one of the worlds most serious diseases that has people all over the world are taking notice. This disease called diabetes is where there is too much sugar/glucose in the blood and this can damage the body severely.

There are three main forms of this deadly condition known as diabetes :

The first disease form of the condition known as diabetes is called diabetes type 1. This is where the organ known as the pancreas fails to produce enough of chemical called insulin. This hormone, also chemical, is responsible for changing blood sugar, also called glucose, into fuel that the body’s cells are able to use. Without proper amounts of insulin in the blood glucose levels rise since the glucose/sugar is not used. This diabetes disease form usually starts when the diabetic is born because they have a defective pancreas gene.

The second form of the diabetes disease is called type2 diabetes condition. This second diabetes form is when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or the body’s cells do not except the insulin as needed too. This will also lead to high blood glucose/sugar. This second diabetes form is often caused by being extremely overweight and eating sugar loaded foods like candy.

The last diabetes form is called gestational diabetes and this diabetes form is dangerous to the baby’s and the mother’s health. Luckily this form of  diabetes goes away after the woman has delivered the child. So what can people with diabetes eat?

What can diabetics eat is a hard to answer question. The diabetics must avoid all simple sugars such as candy. They also must avoid advanced carbohydrates such as bread. Their diet should consist of foods such as meat and beans.

The American Diabetes Assoc. diet recommends a daily intake of four food groups which consist of vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and low fat dairy products. It is worth noting that the American Diabetes Assoc. diet is without sweets and other forms of simple sugars as these food items can cause dangerous spikes and sudden low in blood sugar.

The whole grains vegetables and low fat dairy products can supply the type of complex carbohydrates that are needed to keep the blood sugar reasonably stable.

There are two types of carbohydrates simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates are sugars like glucose, fructose, sucrose and lactose and are mainly found in processed foods and fruits. Complex carbohydrates are usually found in starchy foods like nuts, potatoes, rice, and beans.

Complex carbohydrates are generally more desirable as part of a healthy diet as they digest slowly and provide long lasting and steady sources of energy father than the quick spike and fall of glucose levels which comes from simple carbohydrates. When considering any diet, even the American Diabetes Assoc. diet, it is important to make sure that both types of carbs are included in the count.

Though the American Diabetes Association is a great place to get information on diet and many other things that are of utmost importance to the diabetic patient only the diabetic’s personal doctor will be completely familiar with their overall health.

This is a common problem for diabetics as the slightest mistake and your blood sugar could be sent of the scale. Diabetes is a disease that affects millions of people in the United States alone. Diabetes is where the pancreas (a important organ) fails to create the needed amounts of insulin. Insulin is needed to keep the body running. It binds with the glucose molecules in the bloodstream to make a form of fuel that the cells can use.

Without the proper amounts of the hormone the sugar levels begin to increase as they are not used. When they reach a critical level they start to cause damage to the body. The most common damage done to is heart damage, eye damage, nerve damage, and kidney damage. This makes diabetics watching what their blood sugar is and what their eating a very important situation. So planning a meal plan for diabetics is hard.

So what are some good meal plans for diabetics? Food that for one should never be consumed by a diabetic is candy bars and sweets of that sort, as they are pure simple sugars. Fruit is also a no-no as they are pure simple sugars to and can send blood sugars high. The food that is high in Carbohydrates should also be avoided. Carbohydrates must be eaten as they are your body’s fuel but should be eaten in low amounts.

Foods like bread are pure carbohydrates so should be eaten sparingly. Proteins should be consumed massively to help keep you slim and growing muscles. Meats, beans, and fish are good sources of this essential material. Fish is an absolute hit as it is full of protein and omega-3s. So talk to your doctor about a meal plan for diabetics.
